We arrive late afternoon after a pretty wild 17 hours crossing, once we arrive, the first thing the captain asks me to go dive with him to check if the mooring provided is secure. We don our scuba gear and descend on the below our ship on a 10 meter sandy bottom, from beneath the hull looks like a Nuclear Submarine.
Almost immediately I start feeling vibrations through my chest and my first thought is that there is an engine nearby running perhaps one of the several generators or water-makers that supply our ship with electricity and fresh water. Then it dawns on me that it is actually the humpback whales singing....wow....what a feeling it resonates through my whole being and realize that it’s one of the most powerful and touching experience in my entire life. I have this almost irresistible urge to weep and I ask myself whether or not we deserve this planet and how it could be that we in our greed are killing these living creatures that are so wonderful and sing so beautifully. |
